The Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer Magazine was created following a chance meeting and discussion between Matt Limb and Julie George-Ainscough, in the late autumn of 2015.

Matt, a freelance photographer and photojournalist, was working on a commission to photograph Julie’s dogs when she commented that very little had been written or published about them, despite being a breed growing in popularity.

Julie and her partner, Mark, have vast experience in the breed being involved since the early days working, shooting over, training and exhibiting these wonderful dogs even importing from their homeland, Slovakia.

After several meetings taking place the idea of a magazine dedicated to the breed and the HPR enthusiast was born.

That unlikely meeting bought together a skill set that is the ideal mix of breed knowledge plus a background of publishing; the elements required for a new publication of this nature.

Pre-publication research gave a highly positive response across the wide span of dog owners, plus it soon became clear not only would it be for the Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer community but for all HPR enthusiasts.

Julie George-Ainscough

I am a passionate lover of all HPR gundogs in particular that of my own breeds the Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer and Weimaraners; plus horses, farming and all things relating to the countryside and our traditional heritage.  I have a distinguished quiet nature, or so I am told, with an executive PA and office managerial background, and a regular contributor to newspapers, so I am very excited about this new venture.
